About our office
The Office of the Victims’ Commissioner was permanently established in 2024 to promote the rights and needs of victims of crime.
Sarah Kay is the acting Victim's Commissioner for the state of Queensland. The Victims’ Commissioner is independent to government, and supported by a statutory office.
Review of the Charter of Victims' Rights
We are currently reviewing the Charter of Victims’ Rights to assess how well it meets the diverse needs of victims of crime in Queensland.
- Stage 1 of our public engagement has now closed.
- Stage 2 will commence in early 2026.
